A Place to Belong

Why We've Created Memberships at The Space

When we created The Space, we weren't simply looking for somewhere to work. We were looking for something that felt different.

A place where work and wellbeing could sit side by side. Somewhere calm and beautiful, where independent businesses could grow in ways that felt sustainable and supportive. Somewhere that felt less like hiring a room and more like finding a community.

Over the years, we've welcomed so many wonderful people through our doors. Therapists, teachers, freelancers, creatives and small business owners, all building something meaningful in their own way.

And whilst everyone's work looks different, we've noticed something quietly important.

The people who seem to flourish most are often the ones who feel connected. The ones who have found a sense of belonging, a familiar place to return to, and a community that genuinely wants to see them succeed.

That's what has inspired our new memberships.

Creating Sustainable Ways of Working

When we talk about sustainability, we're not only thinking about the environment. We're also thinking about people.

Running your own business can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be demanding and, at times, quite lonely. There are seasons of growth and seasons of uncertainty. Days when ideas flow effortlessly, and others when you're simply trying to do all the things at once.

We've experienced this ourselves.

And we've come to believe that having the right environment around you can make all the difference.

A place where your clients know where to find you.

A place where your work has consistency and rhythm.

A place where you can pause for a cup of tea, chat with someone who understands the realities of self-employment, or simply spend a few moments beneath an open sky before returning to your work.

These small things matter.

They create a sense of grounding, and in many ways, they make our businesses more sustainable.

The Quiet Magic of Community

Some of our favourite moments at The Space have happened unexpectedly.

A conversation over coffee that turns into a collaboration.

A practitioner recommending another practitioner.

A teacher discovering a workshop that inspires a new idea.

Someone arriving for the first time and leaving feeling that they've found their people.

These moments are difficult to plan, but they happen again and again when people share a space with intention.

Little by little, a community forms.

And what we've learnt is that when one business thrives, it often has a positive ripple effect on everyone around it.

Community has a way of lifting us all.

Membership, But Not As You Might Expect

Our new memberships have been designed with flexibility in mind, because we know there is no single way to build a business.

Some people need an occasional room to see clients or host a workshop. Others are looking for a regular base where they can put down roots and create continuity for their clients and classes.

Some simply want somewhere peaceful to work for a few hours each week, away from distractions and surrounded by people doing meaningful things.

So, rather than creating one type of membership, we've created a collection of ways to belong.

Our memberships include:

Ad Hoc Membership
For those who value flexibility and occasional use of The Space.

Class Host Membership
For teachers running regular classes and building their own communities.

Resident Membership
For practitioners, freelancers and small businesses looking for a consistent base and a place to put down roots.

Co-working Membership
For those seeking a calm, inspiring environment to work alongside like-minded people.

Whether you visit occasionally or become a familiar face each week, everyone who works from The Space becomes part of something wider: a community that values connection, wellbeing and thoughtful ways of working.

Putting Down Roots

There is something special about returning to the same place each week.

Clients begin to feel at ease. Familiar faces become friends. Businesses gain confidence and momentum.

Over time, what begins as a room booking often becomes something much more meaningful.

A sense of home.

And whilst we can't promise that running a business will always feel easy, we do believe it becomes a little lighter when you don't feel like you're doing it alone.

Looking Ahead

As The Space continues to grow, so too will our memberships and the opportunities that come with them.

More chances to connect.

More opportunities to collaborate.

More ways to support the incredible people who choose to build their work here.

Because our vision has never simply been to offer rooms for hire.

It's to create a place where independent businesses can work in ways that feel calm, aligned and sustainable. A place where people can come to work, meet clients, create, teach, rest and grow.

Most importantly, it's a place where people can belong.

With love,
Lisa and Izzy
